When I was a child my parents would send me off to camp for the summer. The one thing I looked forward to more than letters from home was a care package from my parents. Some campers got a care package every single week filled with sweets, random stuff that would make us laugh, and pictures. Although I was not lucky enough to get a package every single week, the few packages which I did get were always the best! Since my mom owns a gift basket company, my care packages were never casually tossed into a cardboard box, but instead were presented in a colorful basket wrapped in bows. Not only was the presentation incomparable, but my mom's company has access to products which you can't buy off the shelves in your local big box store. My packages were always filled with gourmet food such as dried strawberries, exceptional chocolate bars, fruit and nut mixes, tea and hot chocolate, and one of a kind cookies and candies.. I would always share my baskets with my friends and for years after, my camp friends would ask me where my mom had found specific delicacies that they had only ever enjoyed in the contents of my camp care packages. a few months ago I moved across the country for school after twenty one years of living in the same state as my family. Although full-on homesickness hasn't set in yet, it has been hard being apart from my friends and family and there are times which are harder than others. A week or so ago I was delivered a surprise package. I ripped the box open to find a gift basket much like the ones my mom used to send me at camp. It included 'energy' jelly beans, fruit and nut mix, gourmet chocolate bars and cookies, some of the best granola bars I've ever had in my life, and my bike bell which I had forgotten at my parents' house.

Take 10 Time To Relax
A full week of work and courses makes me ready to take a load off and loosen up as soon as the weekend comes. But we all know that the chance of me having a weekend full of spa like services and peace and quiet is not really probable. Even when I have a break from work I find myself lost in chores and errands, house cleaning, and other tasks I’ve been putting off. Although I might be able to talk someone into giving me a five minute back rub, I doubt I’ll have time for a pedicure and a bubble bath. In today’s world where we live such busy lives, it is nearly impossible to sneak away for an hour or two let alone a whole day to just put aside our busy lives and catch a little ‘me’ time. While I can possibly fit in a chiropractor’s appointment or a manicure once a month, it’s never enough to make me feel that I’ve actually coddled myself. When a holiday or a birthday comes along and someone asks me what I want, the first thing that I think of is “money” or “a new pair of scissors.” Even though these may be sensible presents, they are essentials and purchasing these essentials doesn’t take much thought. A present should be something you want, not a thing you need. Sometimes all you need in order to justify a spa treatment is a loved one’s aid or go ahead. A gift should encourage you to take care of yourself, not help you run yourself further into the ground. Although I can say I wouldn’t have much free time to make a spa appointment even if I was given a gift card, I know a few home remedies that will do the trick almost as well. Father's Day Let's Celebration
Can you believe that Father's Day has officially only been in existence since 1972. It took 4 presidents and a Maine senator to eventually make it an official holiday. Mother’s Day had been around for approximately 60 years by then. Sonora Smart was the first person to suggest Father’s Day to honor her Father who was left to raise his 6 children when his wife died giving birth to their 6th child. It was then proposed to complement Mother’s day in celebrating fatherhood and male parenting. Nowadays Father's Day is celebrated on a variety of dates around the planet and typically involves gifting, extraordinary dinners to fathers, and family-focused activities. To help in support of Father’s day young members of the YMCA went to church sporting a rose: a red rose to celebrate a living father, and a white rose to honor a deceased one. Interestingly enough Father's Day was in jeopardy of disappearing from the calendar while Mother's Day was met with enthusiasm, Father's Day was often met with laughter. Not all fathers are exactly alike! OK, so you’re thinking what in the world can I obtain my dad for Father’s day? I don’t live at home any more and have no idea what he wants. You aren’t truly considering purchasing a gift card to Lowe’s or Home Depot are you? That’s about as personal as a another wool sweater. You may not live at home any more, but you probably have a good idea of what your father likes – is he a beer fan?

A Graduation Gift That Is A Special As They Are

A friend of mine recently tranferred from Rhode Island to Colorado to complete his education in a very different part of the country. He is lucky enough to attend a university with various campuses nationwide which allows him to transfer his credits without restraint from one state to the next. He did not leave because he was unsatisfied with the campus in Rhode Island or in order to find a new social scene. His only reason for heading to Colorado was so that his family in California could be resent for his graduation ceremony. My friend is from a large Mexican family and he is the first among them to graduate from university. For his family this means there will be a huge party that may last several days. He will not only be surrounded by loved ones and lots of great food, but he can count on the generosity of gifts.
