Families look toward the second week in may to remember Mothers. Mother's Day is this Sunday , May 9th, 2010, which means that you still have time to find the ideal gift for Mom. The origin of Mother’s day goes back to 1907 when Anna M. Jarvis, a Philadelphia school teacher (1864-1948), began a movement to set up a national Mother's Day in admiration of her mother, Ann Maria Reeves Jarvis. She solicited the help of hundreds of legislators and well-known businessmen to create a special day to honor all mothers. The first Mother's Day ceremony was a church service honoring Anna's mother. Anna handed out her mother's favorite flowers, the white carnations, on the occasion as they symbolize sweetness, purity, and patience. Anna's hard work finally paid off in the year 1914, when President Woodrow Wilson made known the second Sunday in May as a national holiday in honor of mothers.
This year is expected to be the leading in terms of those opting to shop online for mothers day. Lots of people live a huge distance from their mother so shopping online makes most wonderful sense. Another reason is the selection is most wonderful and the convenience is hard to beat.
